Duplex strainers remove damage causing particulate matter from the process media, and never have to be shut down for cleaning…the line can run continuously. When one strainer basket becomes full, flow is switched to the other by simply turning the operating handle of the strainer. The first basket is removed, cleaned and is ready for use again. These larger size duplex strainers are available in 5", 6" and 8" sizes.  For smaller duplex strainers, up to 4" in size Eaton offers the Model 53BTX Duplex Strainer.

These strainers use the most simple, economical and trouble free design available, a tapered plug. This type of strainer is actually a high quality, pressure rated plug valve with integral straining baskets. A quick quarter turn of the handle diverts the flow from one basket strainer chamber to another and the flow is never shut off. No tools are needed for the operation and the plug is automatically positioned each time in exactly the right spot by integral stops.

Quick opening, swing away yoke design covers are standard on all sizes and no tools are required to open or close them…just a pair of hands. Each basket compartment has a side drain outlet and legs for bolting to the floor if required.

Typical applications include lubrication systems, cooling lines, heating and power systems, filling lines, chemical process lines…anywhere particulate matter has to be removed from the flow to protect system components and the line must run continuously.
